Treatment with compassion and understanding is how we define quality care. At the San Fernando Valley Heart Institute, our team of specially trained medical professionals are committed to the well being of you and your family. Simply put, we want you to live and live well.
The San Fernando Valley Heart Institute at Tarzana Regional Medical Center has been treating hearts since 1975. We offer a wide range of heart care services to keep you and your heart healthy: from outpatient, non-invasive diagnostic testing to interventional procedures, plus cardiac surgery, including some of the latest innovations in minimally invasive operations as well as a three phase recovery program.
Cardiac Surgery The San Fernando Valley Heart Institute uses some of the latest, minimally invasive operative procedures for valve replacement and coronary bypass. In addition, our surgeons are skilled in surgery for cardiomyopathy. Among the procedures performed are bypass and vascular procedures and minimally invasive surgeries including both MIDCAB and Heartport.
Outpatient Testing and Services Cardiac testing and follow-through, including intervention and diagnosis, may be done on an outpatient basis. Among the outpatient services offered at the San Fernando Valley Heart Institute you'll find: electrocardiography (EKGP) and SAECG, holter monitoring, pacemaker analysis, radionuclide and echocardiographic stress tests, trans-thoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, and tilt table testing.
Special Setting In 1995, Tarzana Regional Medical Center determined it was necessary to expand the Heart Institute's facilities to better serve its community. The San Fernando Valley Heart Institute is housed in a distinct area of the hospital complete with its own entrance. Conveniently, there are no long corridors to follow or elevator rides to take. The 45,000-square-foot institute built new from the ground up, includes a 10-bed dedicated cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU), and an 18-bed cardiovascular telemetry unit (DOU), along with two advanced cath labs, nuclear cardiology, and comprehensive invasive and non-invasive testing facilities.
One of the Safest Hospitals in the Valley for Heart Surgery
The San Fernando Valley Heart Institute emerged as one of the safest hospitals in the San Fernando Valley to have open-heart surgery, according to the California Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Mortality Reporting Program study. In the Valley, the heart surgery team at Tarzana gave patients some of the best chances for a good outcome and had among the lowest overall mortality in the state, particularly when the data was adjusted for how sick the patients are.
